In the Deer Valley area north of Phoenix is the business “Strictly Diesel Performance,” a, physical repair facility with their own Research & Development for new products to improve the performance and reliability of diesel fueled trucks.

Strictly Diesel Performance has been taking innovative steps in the aftermarket for light duty diesel performance longevity repairs, to help the diesel community, along with the do it yourself (DIY) home mechanic. This requires expertise in high heat and extreme cold climates, and the profound impact they have on the diesel power-plants.
A known enemy to any automatic transmission is heat. When towing heavy loads, the Ford 6.7 liter Powerstroke Diesel’s automatic transmission fluid will reach temperatures of over 230ºF. It is true that lubricants have improved over the years. However, some owners and even technicians that maintain these trucks, are not comfortable with extended use at that level of heat, particularly the trucks with higher gear ratios and dual rear wheels.
This kit adds a large liquid to air heat exchanger that connects to the OEM liquid- to-liquid unit. This maintains the OEM cooler’s ability to aid in warming the transmission after first start while offering a significant reduction in maximum transmission temperatures. According to Dennis, “After looking at the entire transmission cooling system over thoroughly for possible causes, we determined that the OEM transmission cooler just wasn’t large enough to properly cool the fluid under extended load situations. This new product, in conjunction with the OEM Transmission cooler, achieved the results we were looking for.”

With the use of Gates® transmission cooler hoses, T-304 stainless steel brackets, and OEM styled hardware, they were able to bring temperatures down 20-30ºF under significant load, with sustained cruising temperatures dropping 30ºF+.
