Premier Group Insurance, an independent insurance agency serving Colorado since 2008, has passed 1,000 Google reviews with a 4.9-star average. The milestone reflects nearly two decades of work with drivers, homeowners, landlords, contractors and business owners across the state.

Of the more than 1,000 reviews the agency has received, 96 percent are five-star. Clients most often point to the same handful of things: coverage explained in plain language, staff who are easy to reach and pleasant to deal with, and a premium that came in lower than what they had been paying. Home and auto policies account for the largest share of the feedback, with commercial clients making up a growing portion of it.

Review counts at that scale are unusual in insurance, a category most people think about twice a year and forget about in between.

“A thousand reviews is really a thousand separate conversations,” said Steve Ehler, owner of Premier Group Insurance. “Somebody called because their rate jumped, or they just bought a first house, or they were starting a business and had no idea what coverage they actually needed. We tried to give each one a straight answer. The reviews are what happened after that.”

Premier Group Insurance operates as an independent broker, which means it is not tied to a single insurance company. The agency represents more than 25 carriers, including Progressive, Nationwide, Travelers, Safeco, Liberty Mutual and Allstate, and compares them side by side for each client. For a homeowner facing a renewal increase, that usually means a lower number. For a business owner, it often means access to carriers a captive agent cannot quote at all.

That distinction carries the most weight on the commercial side, where Colorado businesses are dealing with rising property rates, tighter underwriting and carriers stepping back from entire classes of business. “Most business owners we sit down with have never had anyone actually shop their coverage,” Ehler said. “They renewed with the same company for six years straight and assumed that was the deal. Put five carriers next to each other and the conversation changes in a hurry. That is still the part of this job I like.”

The agency was founded in Lakewood in 2008, in the middle of the financial crisis, after Ehler left a captive agency to go independent. Its team now includes agents Marjorie Herrera, Vicente “Vinny” Tapia, David Steinberg and Venette Duran, and the agency has continued adding licensed agents as its Colorado book has grown. A number of the reviews name individual staff members directly.
